BECOMING A NEW BUSINESS OWNER
Entrepreneurial journeys start well before registering a business
Anyone who has been following my entrepreneurial journey will know that I have wanted to have my own business for a very long time. It is something I’ve always known I’d do. It is what I’d call an aspiration, but also a ‘calling’? I was unsure why but I knew I wanted to find out.
I have had many many set backs over the years with everything from limiting beliefs to health.
At no point did I give up on my dream (or aspiration - see “dream interpretation”) of getting there.
I just lost my way a little. But by losing my way I gained knowledge. Crucial knowledge. Knowledge I could never have gained if everything had ‘gone to plan’ what I now see as too early.
My business CAN I DO IT MYSELF LTD - trading as LiNK BREATHING launched in 2020, following the work I put into this blog and podcast site and the work I had to therefore put into myself. I still have a long way to go to realise my business and life to the level I aspire to, but I have started and I am growing daily, not only through continuing to work on myself but by what I learn from and in order to support and raise awareness in those I coach.
This is what I wrote when I first launched www.canidoitmyself.com as a blog site.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to create my own business. I grew up knowing that one day I would do this, but never really knowing how or when to start. I trusted that when the time was right, I’d know. I’ve been held back by opinions of others, physical ‘weakness’ where I wasn’t looking after myself and a fear of failure, mainly around whether I’d cope when I had children.
I gave birth to my daughter in 2019 and as it turns out, the very time when I thought it would be most challenging is actually the best time to start. I’ve finally learned the importance of consistently looking after myself, because otherwise I can’t look after her. I’ve finally challenged my fears and self-doubt brought about by something I was told a long time ago. I’ve finally found the confidence to encourage others to realise the importance of self-care, mindset, support, community, self-development, self-awareness, self-exploration and crucially the fact that we will only get out of life what we put in. Failure is inevitable, in fact it is crucial.
My name is Jane Tarrant. I am somebody’s daughter, granddaughter, sister, wife, mum, friend, colleague, ex-lover, acquaintance, neighbour, manager, landlady, role model, client, patient, donor, employee, carer and cleaner. Most importantly, I am unique. I have a story, experiences and failures which are unique. I also have similarities with others across everything I have gone through. For this reason, I am sharing much of my story and creating an avenue to share the stories of others in the hope that even just one person will benefit from hearing them.”
